Real Results: 8 Weeks of LED Light Therapy with the SKINJOY LUMO Mask = 1-year reduction in measured skin age!

At SKINJOY, we don’t just talk about glow, we track it.
To better understand the long-term effects of LED therapy, we recently conducted a case study using the SKINJOY LUMO MASK Wearable LED Face Mask over 8 weeks, from April to July 2025. The results were captured using professional-grade skin imaging equipment, and what they revealed was as illuminating as the mask itself.
This wasn’t a photoshoot. It was a data-backed investigation into how consistent, targeted LED use could shift the skin’s biological age and improve key markers of skin health. After just eight weeks, our subject showed improvement across the board, including a visible reduction in pigmentation, improved skin metabolism, and measurable healing from UV-related damage.
The Light Settings Used
To achieve these results, our test subject alternated between red light and yellow light settings during her sessions. These two wavelengths are known to support skin regeneration in different, but complementary, ways:
- Red light (630–660 nm) penetrates deeply into the dermis, boosting collagen production and enhancing circulation. It’s often used to reduce inflammation and accelerate skin healing.
- Yellow light (590 nm) works closer to the surface to calm the skin, assist with lymphatic flow, and help with pigmentation and sensitivity.
Used during alternating sessions, these wavelengths created an ideal balance by stimulating cellular function while supporting calm, even-toned skin.
Skin Metabolism: A Boost in Cellular Energy
Before starting LED therapy, the subject’s skin cell activity was within the normal range for her age, indicating an average metabolic rate and cell turnover. After eight weeks, the imaging system picked up a marked increase in cellular activity. Her skin metabolism had become more efficient, suggesting improved energy availability at a cellular level, which is key to healthier, faster skin renewal.
Result: An 11% improvement in metabolic performance, equivalent to a one-year reduction in measured skin age.
Pigmentation: A More Even Canvas
Initial scans showed a concentration of melanin in the deeper dermal layers; more than what’s typically seen in others of the same age group. This kind of uneven pigmentation often stems from sun exposure, hormonal shifts, or post-inflammatory responses.
After consistent use of the yellow light setting, the subject’s pigmentation became more evenly distributed, with visible improvement in tone and balance. The deeper melanin clusters lightened, and the skin’s complexion appeared more uniform.
Result: An 8% improvement in pigmentation mapping and a skin age drop of one year.
UV Damage: Healing From the Inside Out
UV exposure leaves behind more than freckles; it can lead to micro-inflammation, collagen breakdown, and long-term structural damage. At the beginning of the study, the subject’s UV damage markers were within the expected range for her age, but there were visible indicators of skin stress.
After eight weeks of targeted red and yellow light therapy, scans showed a clear reduction in UV-induced changes, including fewer visible spots and lower signs of inflammation. This suggests that LED therapy has helped to repair photodamage and support deeper tissue recovery.
Result: A 9% reduction in visible UV damage, paired with improved resilience.
The Takeaway: Measurable Results Without Downtime
This case study reinforces what many SKINJOY users already know: consistency is the real magic when it comes to at-home skincare devices. Unlike salon microneedling or peels, LED light therapy is non-invasive and suitable for year-round use, even during sunny months when more intensive treatments need to be paused.
By supporting the skin’s natural functions, rather than disrupting them, regular use of the LUMO MASK helps to shift your baseline. Think of it as training your skin to behave younger, glow steadier, and recover faster.
