Can I Use SKINJOY Devices with My Current Skincare Products?
Short answer? Yes, but with a few smart tweaks.
If you’re new to at-home skincare tools, it’s natural to wonder how they’ll fit into your current routine. The good news is that SKINJOY devices are designed to complement your existing products, not replace them. So you don’t need to toss out your entire shelf of existing products to enjoy clinical-grade results at home.
Here’s how to use your devices alongside the products you already love, without complicating things.
Start with the basics
Each SKINJOY tool is built around simplicity. Whether you’re using the LUMO MASK, LUMO PEBBLE, or LUMO WAND, the aim is always the same: support your skin’s natural healing processes and supercharge your skincare.
In most cases, you can use your regular cleanser, toner, and moisturiser as usual. The only thing we ask is that you keep your formulas gentle and non-comedogenic (AKA doesn’t clog pores). Harsh exfoliants, active acids, or products with alcohol may cause irritation when combined with tech-based treatments — especially on sensitive skin.
For LED devices like the LUMO MASK
Our LED light therapy mask works best on clean, dry skin. That means you can wash your face with your go-to cleanser, pat dry, and pop on your LUMO MASK before layering serums or moisturisers.
TOP TIP: Use the LUMO MASK before your hydrating serums and moisturiser. The light penetrates more effectively without barriers and preps your skin to absorb your products even better afterwards.
For microneedling or EMS devices
If you’re using the LUMO WAND or LUMO PEBBLE, things get a little more specific.
These tools need a conductor medium to function safely and effectively. For EMS, a conductive gel (like our LUMO GEL) ensures the current reaches the muscle layers without causing discomfort. For microneedling, the correct serum consistency matters; nothing too thick or oily, and preferably fragrance-free.

You can also use your own serum if:
- It’s water-based, not oil-based
- It’s free from harsh active ingredients (like retinol, AHAs or BHAs)
- It doesn’t contain alcohol or fragrance
